Howdy!
In CF, are there weapons ranges? I ask because all of the AARs seem to read as if there are none, or at least they aren't mentioned.
Thanks, Darby

Well, weapons do have ranges, but they don't have range bands, like in other games. They have an attack die instead, and attacks are made by rolling the weapon's attack die attack die + the ship's fire control vs. the range in hexes, so a ship making an attack at range 6 would require a six or better to hit the target, and so on.

Rifleman III is correct. It sounds a little odd, so to further explain, some weapons shoot with a D6, others a D10. They can have plus modifiers of +1, +2, or +3. Example: Your ship has two railguns in a hardpoint and two fire controls. You are shooting at an enemy ship 7 hexes away. You would roll 2D10 (each railgun gets a dice) and add +2 (for the fire controls) so on a 5+2=7 you hit.

Ah! That's pretty cool, actually. So weapons with the d6 have the lower, range. That sounds easy as all get-out to deal with!
That caps it for me, going to get it off of RPGnow... er, um,.. now!
Thanks for the responses!
