One of my projects that I've had on the back-burner for about the past 16 months is the South American Dreadnought race.
As there are no supplements in ether "branch" of the core Naval Thunder game system for this time or place, I thought I'd ask around on what would be the better system for this hypothetical conflict.
The fleets in my collection are what the 3 South American powers had in active service during the 1920s. According to the rules, this time-frame is best served by BR, however as far as I can ascertain the technology and doctrine was decidedly pre-Jutland, and thus favouring CoD.
I'm leaning on borrowing heavily from CoD, as the dreads were pre-Jutland, air played a negligible part in this theatre and torpedoes as well as their countermeasures were primitive by WW2 standards.
The only advantage I see in using BR is it's use of destroyers, since as best as I can determine, the South American destroyers were equipped for independent cruising. In essence, I think that I can get around this by statting out the destroyers as very light cruisers.
Do you guys think that this will float (so to speak).
As a side question, has anybody here played this period? How does the composition of a few dreadnoughts, little to no cruisers and a boatload of destroyers on a death ride work out as a pleasant game?

I think you'd be better off playing this using the CoD rules.

That's what I suspected. It's nice to have confirmation.
