Nice AAR. I had to click on the side bar under incident in the gulf...as it didn't come right up, but it was worth it. Also, I had to look twice as your groups looks a lot like my group, baseball hat and all!

After so much time playing the WW1 stuff, it still amazes me how weak the armour is on treaty cruisers. For example in this game the Foch had no chance to pass an armour save against 8" shells. (AP6 +d10 vs armour 6)

Great AAR. Gives me some ideas for scenarios with my French, a move from the Med is called for I think.

It's within the realm of possibilities and does make a good game considering that for once the Japanese are the slow and heavy ones. As far as I recon using Google maps, it's 7350 nm between Toulouse and Saigon, so that's about 15-16 days cruising at 20 knots, or 20 at a more fuel efficient 15 knots. Then again, in order to justify the French sending a significant task-force to stop a quick smash and grab from the Japanese in Indochina, there would have to be a reason for knocking Italy out of the picture... Oh the interesting Machiavellian machinations we can invent to get that to work

(AP6 +d10 vs armour 6) Well theoretically the cruisers had a 10% chance to resist the shells given the always-fail-on-1 rule. But yeah, those treaty cruisers really were made of tinfoil. That's what you get for allowing lame naval treaties to limit your displacement.

Regardless, in this game destroyers were much more survivable than the cruisers since they were harder to hit and had a better chance to pass an armour roll against like guns.
And that's not including the fact that the Japanese cheated when they measured the tonnage of their ships...not that it helped them much in this game ;-)
