Was looking at the Unryu class for NT:BR. Essentially Hiryu copies, but with the island moved and a slight uptick in AA.
Information from Conways on their air group:
Original planned complement (1942):
12 (+3 reserve) Zeros 27 (+3) Vals 18 (+2) Kates total 57 aircraft plus 8 reserves
Revised complement designed in 1943 to account for expected new aircraft:
18 (+2) Sams 27 (+0) Judys 6 (+0) Myrts (to be deck parked) total 51 aircraft plus 2 reserves
When the ships were commissioned in 1944 the following is the complement they were going to have because the Sam and Myrt were not ready. All of this is from the very extensive and detailed Conways Warship 2010 article.
27 (+ 0 reserve) Zero's 9 (+0) Judys 3 (+0) Judys in recon configuration 9 (+0) Jills 48 aircraft.
So it seems like they would have, depending on which version you buy into:
Original planned: 4 fighters 7 dive bombers 5 torpedo bombers
Revised 1943: 5 fighters 7 dive bombers 2 recon
Revised 1944: 7 fighters 3 dive bombers 2 torpedo bombers
Thoughts?

I don't remember off hand. . . but I thought I assumed 4 fighters to a flight. . . dropping fractional flights as "replacement planes" and whatnot.

Any suggestions on which of the three configurations would be best for the game - and any thoughts of including them in the roster?
These actually saw more 'action' than Shinano did...

I would go with the revised 1944 air group. The additional fighters were needed to escort the strike aircraft to the target. Other fighters would be needed to protect the carrier from USN strike aircraft. Later in the war the IJN used their Zeros as strike aircraft because the available Vals and Kates were too slow and very vulnerable to USN fighters and shipboard AA. The Myrts would have been much faster strike aircraft, but still would have needed fighter escort to the target. Just my opinion, but I think based upon how the war was going for the IJN by the time the Unryu's were available this would have been their config had the trained carrier pilots and aircraft been actually available.
