I just became aware of the fact that the War Times Journal is now offering Pre-Dreadnough models in a variety of new scales in addition to their 1/3000 lines. www.wtj.com/store/Looking at some of the photos, I'm quite impressed and expect that I will soon order a few to see how well they will supplement my 1/2400 Panzerschiffe's -- Jeff

Well I placed an order for some of their 1/2400 scale Pre-Dreads and I received the following reply . . . which I will post because it has some interesting information in it.

=============================== Hi Jeff,
Thank you for ordering our new rapid protoyped ships. Because these are so different from our pewter miniatures, I thought it would be good to send this outline so you will know what to expect.
If you were ordering through one of the big RP consolidation centers, you would currently have about a three week wait for your order to ship out. I will try to get your order shipped out in two weeks or less, although there are times when it might go longer.
Ideally, I will be setting up the run groups around Monday-Wednesday so the ships can run Thursday/Friday and be boxed and shipped out by the following Monday/Tuesday. If that process is interrupted due to other RP jobs running in front of mine, machine maintenance or anything like that, then shipping may be bumped out a week. If time is paramount, let me know as there are ways to get the miniatures completed even faster, but that does incur extra shipping and handling costs... typically people are happy to wait and put their money into boat tonnage!
As with all previous WTJ Naval products, if you have any questions feel free to email me and I'll do what I can to answer them.
Thanks, Jim

Thanks for the welcome backs, gentlemen.
While I'm still not up to hosting any games, I have ordered some new ships and will be painting them again after almost two years of serious illness related inactivity.

I just got an email from WTJ. The ships I ordered are ready and will be shipped at the start of the week.
Also I have noted that they have added more ships (and more nations) have been added to their list of vessels available using this new process . . . and I expect that more and more will be available soon.
Once Canada Post (which is notoriously slow) delivers my ships I will try to remember to let you know what I think of them.

I've received a further email from Jim at WTJ about my recent order for some of WTJ's new 1/2400 Pre-Dreads. Here is what he wrote:
Hi Jeff,
Your order did ship out on time, feel free to let me know what you think. There are three things I'm currently focused on:
1) Shipping - Did they arrive in good condition. We are using 3 mil plastic bags and large bubble pack, so unless a customs inspector decides to do brain surgery on the package they should arrive in great shape.
2) Appearance - Overall proportion and detail.
3) Material - Finish and flatness. Base flatness is to rapid prototyping what mold lines are to pewter castings, so any personal impressions you can offer on particular ships will be appreciated. The input I’ve received is that people prefer I focus on a steady flow of more ships rather than running down solutions to issues they consider minor.
Thanks again, Jim

Looking forward to see your results especially if they are adding more. My latest huge order from Panzerschiffe arrived yesterday when I came home from NAVCON. I ordered the balance of the US and Spanish fleets along with some Germans from RotB2. I plan to do some hypothetical SPAN AM war stuff if I can somewhat balance out fleets along with 1905-06 US vs Japan and US vs Germany.
I really like the Pre-dread period and and planning to expand to other nations. I am happy with PS, but it is aways nice to have some variety.

Aaron,
WTJ does have quite a few US ships, but Panzerschiffe also has most of them (although you might consider some WTJs for "sister ships").
As for German ships, WTJ is currently listing those as "Coming Soon". If I had to guess, I'd look at what they have in 1/3000 metal . . . I suspect that these will give an idea as to what's to come . . . but I could certainly be wrong.
I would also guess that we will eventually see a lot more British ships.

I will definitely keep an eye out. I already have the US, Spanish and now a few Germans primed and on the work bench ( over 50 in all) so that should keep me busy for a little while. :-)
