Hello, I'm new here.
I have played a lot of space combat games but we fell out of love with full thrust some years ago and the ships have been on the shelf 'till now..
(actually that's a little untrue.. we all bought xwing but the /other/ ships have been on the shelf)
Anyway.. today we got out FT again determined to give it another try and discovered anew how we didn't really like it.
To cut a long story short.. blocks of doom. By which I mean large fleets in a small area killing anything within a foot.
Trying to maneuver means lowering your own BoD firepower. Which gets you killed.
So you end up with two fleets in two large formations slagging one another until wrist-lock or boredom sets in.
I know that's overly negative but there's a reason i came here and dropped $20 on these rules...
So. They look a lot more maneuver-friendly, which should help.
I was hoping that smaller ships might be harder to hit because they're just small or nimble or whatever.
Maybe they'll be harder to hit because they should be able to turn more and not be stood somewhere daft..
I can still see big ships taking them out en-mass at range though..?
Is there any particular bonus by attacking in multiple directions?
Ships seem to have directional shields so is it actually worse to 'enflade' the target for want of a better term?
Why the restriction on smaller ships?
Does it break the point system / balance / etc if you use more than the indicated numbers?
Lastly.. I'm sure the answer must be just 'remove from hull value' but I can't see anywhere in the book describing what to do when your ship takes damage..
Does it explode or anything at 0 ir is it just dead?
Thanks!
