I am working on a Retro fleet for a local wargaming club where we will be trying Colonial Battlefleet. I am using the Zenthian fleet from Hydra Miniatures. As you can tell Flash Gordon has a lot to answer for in terms of the colour scheme. Base spray of Army Painter Dragon Red, dried with Hair dryer. Gold details in Army Painter Greedy Gold. Vallejo Matt black dome. Soft highlighting on Red with Vallejo Model Colour Carmine. Then Army Painter Strong tone dip applied by brush, removing any excess by hand. Hair dryer till set. Glue a Hawk Wargames Widget (yes that is what it is called) into the hole underneath. Mount on a Litko 1.375in class acrylic flight base, the widget allows easy removal for carrying/storage. Add Litko dial and marker for setting current velocity. All told about an hours painting. I am about to purchase some of the larger models, I think the colour scheme will hold up hopefully.

Today I got a delivery from the 3d printer shapeways. I made myself some fighters for my fleet. The size comparison is a British one pence coin. The fighters are 10mm diameter. I could not resist painting one in fleet colours!
