Hello everyone,
I have got a question regarding the salvo size of destroyers/torpedo boat destroyers.
Situation as follows: We had a melee between a british light cruiser and a four destroyer strong group of German B class torpedo boats. So when both participants were steering their vessels around and left them in a position broadside to broadside, the German player decided to launch a torpedo attack using three destroyers (as stated in the rule book). We looked at the vessel sheet and found that every destroyer is said to have 1 torpedo tube on port and starbord side and 4 torpedo tubes for both sides.
So we understood that at least 15 torpedos would be launched on one side - did we understand this rule correctly? Because that would be an awful lot of torpedos if you are able to fire them every round.
If anyone is able to answer that question I would be quite grateful.
All the best!

Yes you fire 15 torpedoes for that volley, but once used you cross off the used torpedoes and they can not be fired again. So in effect each destroyer has 6 torpedoes, it can fire 5 to one side or the other and have the one on the other side left over. So in your example, the 4 DD could fire the 15, then if they are all there the next turn, you could fire a max of 7 torpedoes if you fully turned the flotilla around, 5 from the 4th that didn't fire them and 1 from two of the others. If you didn't manage to turn them around, you would have a max of 5 torpedoes that could of been fired.
I hope that helps, but the long and short of it is: Torpedoes are one shot items.

Ah, I see!
Thank you very much!
(That for sure explains why we felt like we did it wrong :-D)
