Here is a reply to my post at SCN forum from Dread about FT Fleetbook, and my reply to him.
"TheDreadnought wrote: I'd actually be happy to do a fleet book for the GZG models. I just have plenty of projects in the works, and assumed since he had his own rule set he wouldn't be interested - so I have never approached him about it."
Maybe if I get some time in the schedule, I might ask if he'd be interested sometime. Basically, if its a starship miniature, I'd be willing to do a fleet book for it if the miniature line's owner is interested. Just a little backed up right now.
Wow! ask, ask now!

LOL!! I am already looking at 2011 and realizing I might not have time for all the stuff I want to do right now. . . let alone additional titles.
But Leslie has cleaned some projects off her plate. . . and we're designating one night a week to work on SDG stuff. . . so hopefully we'll get some things rolling again.

I just had to bring it here in case some of the colonials hadn't seen it!

I love GZG ships, but wonder how you'd do them.
GZG fleets are mostly made up of lots and lots of sizes. There are a few role-specific models, like missle destroyer variants.
CB is more about variety in ship roles, rather than just sizes. (I haven't actually played yet, so don't really have a good feel yet. But that aspect comes through pretty clearly.)
So if you do want the model size to sorta match up, do you make some hull models, and then when you want to play a battle, do whatever work is necessary to shape the design at whatever size into the role you want in your fleet?
I was designing Starmada stats for my new-style GZG NSL fleet, but they were pretty boring. That's because I decided what sort of weapons and other features they'd have overall, and just started from the smallest and went up, adding a bit more to each bigger size. Dull to do, probably dull to play.
How would you design a CB fleet for a line of GZG ships?
I haven't looked at the example on this forum enough to see what it does, and compare it to the FT stats for the same models.
Just wondering.

Some of the GZG ship types are really roles. . . so its just making the roles match up. . . then sorting the hull sizes into the range available in CBF.

I think it would be fairly easy as FT nations all had the same ship classes and sizes. The difference was in the weapons, armor, and speed. This would line up nice with CB which ahas more weapons options. think I would start with one nation and line the ships up with FT fleetbooks and go from there.

Sounds like a project for AFTER you've released ROTB2 though.

We've already got one forum member who has done some of this work. Check out the custom factions board.
