For those who are not sure about Colonial Battlefleet, just buy them. They are only $15 at Wargames Vault. Yes they are 136 pages, but you can print off the core rules and then decided what else you need. The price includes an excel program for ship building that works nicely. It is a good buy and worth the time to read. So, just buy it!

Oh...in case you're wondering-no, I don't work or even know Harry. I've just been following the progress on these for the last few months.
I also like NT rules too!

warchariot,
$15 is not the same amount for everyone. I don't know about others, but I'm retired on a very limited income . . . and I need to have some idea as to whether or not I would use the rules or not.
Besides, I'm sure that the questions I and others are asking (along with the answers) will help others to decide that they want to give them a try.

You're right most rules in PDF are around $12-$20, but these are 130 some pages, have color charts and markers and include the excel spread sheet for not only building ships, but also printing out the SSDs. It really is a good value.
Now for the rules, again I see them as FT and Starmada in complexity, but with a bit more to them. You don't just hit anything and everything with a roll of 4+ on a D6 you must also defeat the Shields and/or armor to do damage. Also, hits don't do just one point of damage, this varies with the type/size of weapon.
Again, I hope to play a real practice game start to finish this weekend, not just roll dice as I'm reading the rules. I'll let you all know.
