BTW- the decks seem to vary on these ships. Different colors? Washes or just photographic mirage?

Mike, for the record I only did NewYork, Arkansas and the 4 Cassins last night. Yes, I used a brown wash vs thinned black paint on the decks this time. Technique has changed slightly the more I do over time. I purposely wanted the sisterships to be different though.

Different washes, yes, but sometimes the same wash/color runs a little deeper or stays in place a little better. So the color does vary even if you are trying to make them the same. I always say it's the angle of the sun...lol

Beautiful!
Very jealous. I have crates of GHQ sitting around still in boxes that needs to be painted. Unfortunately, not going to happen anytime soon.
I have have complete orders of battle of Jutland in 1/3000 scale. . . but now want a bunch of WWI stuff in GHQ because they are just so much nicer. But I have avoided buying them because I see no need to add to my unpainted crates of miniatures. Maybe if I start to see some progress made at some point.
Oh, and did I mention I'd like to expand my Star Wars and BSG fleets as well? lol

Thanks all...these were done more for the fun of it. Now I need to come up with a worthy opponent for a "what if" scenario. Harry, I know what you are saying about having projects waiting. I recently purged alot of minis I realized were never going to get used like all the 1/6000 WWII I sold last fall. I also sold a ton of unpainted/primed 15mm ACW figs I realized just were not going to happen. Now I try to buy as I go and get them painted as they arrive. It is a much better feeling to have a finished project stored than unpaitned minis, but my painting moods come and go in streaks. When I am in the mood I can knock out entire fleets in a weekend. Then at times new projects will sit for weeks on the work bench. I still Have some WWII land stuff waiting as well as planes for Wings of War not to mention my Model Railroad. Probably need to purge a bit more and narrow my focus. That would make the Mrs. Happy. I will say since the discovery of NT ships have taken most of my hobby time and been the most rewarding.

I did clear out alot of older games and Minis last Fall that were just not going to see service again with me anytime in the foreseeable future. I was rsther surprise at what some of the stuff was worth to others. The Mrs. is happy when she sees stuff going out the door and does not notice as much the stuff coming in especially when it is small. Case in point yesterday I picked up the GHQ Baden and Konig to start an appropriate opposition force for BB Div 9. They are primed and on the work bench.

I beleive in a bit of artistic liscence and again I did not want the sisters to look identical.

nice ships, i have been wating for most of the year for a freind to get some stuff done for me. i have knocked out many minis in the mean time. the reason i gave them to paint is he really wanted to paint them so thought he would have them done soon....i need to put me foot dont since i need the ships in the next week or so to stat out everything for the big game i am running next month for uncharted seas.

Those look really good! I for one love the cage masts on the WW1 US ships. That is kinda off topic. In conclusion nice ships , i like cage masts.
