these ships look great and I was thinking would be fun to pain and play. They're bigger than 1/2400 yet I think they'd fit on a larger table without a lot of trouble. So I'm sorely tempted....their Russo-Japanese lines are very large, over 25 entries and the torpedo boats are 3 or 4 per entry. The biggest ships are $12 with the OG Army discount, and the smaller are $9 or $6 for 3-4 torpedo boats.
Has anyone tried these and do you have any thoughts RE: the models, or playing the war out on the table?

Wow that is a lot cheaper than we have to pay in the UK! Most ships are £16 ($26!!) from oldgloryuk. Lovely ships though, bit too big for my table lol and way too much for me to paint.

I've not seen any but . . . how long are they? I'm guessing most of the RJW Battleships would be something like 8"-10" each. With water between them, the Yellow Sea lines of six ships would stretch over half of most tables.
I've always thought that these were more "floor models" (for playing on the floor or lawn). I suggest that you find out for sure how long/wide they are (I just guessed above) and then cut out some paper footprints and put them on your table top with what you consider acceptable water between ships. See what it looks like.
Of course if you have access to a large floor space (and are still limber enough to get down -- I'm not), then I'm sure that they would be wonderful.
Finally, remember that I've not seen them, I'm just guessing as to their size . . . and, in any event, if they give you pleasure, then go for it, sir. The real criteria is whether you like them, not what I think.

Hi guys,
I have three of the 1/600 scale ships from Old Glory. The Mikasa, Chen Yin and Tsarevitch. They run about 8 inches in length and are very nicely detailed models. I'm not sure how practical they are for gaming on the table top but if you've got a ballroom floor they would be great.
They have most of the ships for RJW but not quite everything.
Very handsome models and pretty easy to assemble and paint.

HI
My camera is still down but I found a picture of the OG 1/600 ships posted on the Battle Ship Row thread.
There is a link to a picture of some Russian Pre-Dreads painted and a link to another blog showing them unpainted and with a ruler set beside one of the models for scale.
I hope this helps.
