i just have to say it has been very dead in here the past few weeks with no one really posting or commenting on treads at all. i know i posted some stuff in the ship yard and figured someone would make some comment on them....or even something about anything about any game to talk about...sigh.....

You're right not much going on here. But to fair, not much anywhere. The time between school starting and the run up to Christmas is always a bit dead in this hobby.

then again the other thing i have to say about is that most naval gamers also seem to be of the boomer side of ages anyway or older to start with. i seen that the last two nav con where the ave age seemed to be about 40+ where kids and work and life gets in the way of doing things.... then agian i guess i am lucky in a few things of being under 40..not by much and no kids or other half to deal with.

Yeah. . . part of it is my fault. . . when there's not much new stuff to talk about, people don't tend to post much. However I am busily working on both the next Colonial Battlefleet release as well as the Sky Dreadnoughts game. . . so once those are out you'll see forum chatter pick up quite a bit.
The 'deadness' isn't limited to this place though. . . seems like all the forums are down in traffic quite a bit. I don't know what's causing that. . . maybe its a seasonal thing?

Also. . . planning on getting some playtest games of my own in for Sky Dreadnoughts as we finish up. If I get that going I might be able to post some AARs myself.

Well, my excuses are...I turned 45 in July (yep 40+!), got married (for the first time) in April, and now have a beautiful 6 week old daughter (first pregnancy for either of us!).. Oh, and for the last 6 weeks there has been something called a Rugby World Cup happening in my home city and country... Anyone care to top that? Is it any wonder that I haven't posted much? Be nice to Dread... he's been working very hard! I won't mention Ghost Ships...much.. ;-) All in all, it's been an interesting year for me...and still two months to go...

i made the comments about everyone in genral not talking much. some of the other forums are always busy it seems and i guess they have a bigger presnce also to start with so there is something to read about. but if anyone has stuff to comment about feel free to post about things.

I'm doing my best, I've started two new threads.
Seriously the problem is that this is a specialised forum, for more wide ranging topics I use SCN.

Hey Guys!
I have a good excuse! I started a new teaching gig on the 25th. Its requires a long drive but after 16 months of unemployment it is a welcomed opportunity. Any recommendations for Naval Historical books on CD or MP3 would be welcomed.

Mike, Congratulations! Very happy to hear you got the job! You know my recommendations - NEPTUNE'S INFERNO (for Guadalcanal) and SHIP OF GHOSTS (for Java Sea), both by James Hornfischer.

Isn't it odd that a thread about how dead it is here gets a lot of replies?
