We had a game of Battleship Row at the club, and it played so fast my opponent and I had time for 2 games, switching sides. The battles pitted the USN Salt Lake City, Northampton, Portland (CAs), Laffey, Duncan, Buchanan (DDs) vs the IJN Chokai, Nachi, Aoba (CAs), Fubuuki, Murakami, Hatsunumi (DDs) in late 1942. The first battle saw me lose with the US, losing all three cruisers and 2 DDs, but taking out the 3 Japanese heavies, leaving the 3 Fubukis give the Marines a rude awakening at Henderson Field... A few pics of the game : I won the second game with the IJN, sinking every ennemy ship and losing 2 DDs, once again giving Henderson Field a display of fireworks. A more complete AAR on my Blog.

We were using the following optional rules : alternate play & initiative (being Battletech fans we like it more than simultaneous moves), night battle, and acceleration. We were also using a house rule regarding radar, which detected ships at 40", but did not allow fire before 20". As all ships had to sail at a constant heading and speed before the ennemy was detected, This in effect allowed the US ships to move freely while the Japanese were on a set course till a ship was within 20". A question, what happens if a ship suffers both a Bridge and a rudder hit, and fails morale? Since she cannot turn back and head for home, we left her in play rolling for command each turn, till she succeeded, at which time she could resume firing and trying to repair.

Thanks for the write-up and pics. Were all the ships sunk by gunfire or were there any torpedo hits in the mix?
I suspect the ocean is a blue tarp?

foxbat, sounds like you ruled correctly on the morale, bridge, rudder question. What else could you do? Unless, you would say that the crew had lost all morale and gumption to fight and just sailed off in a straight line off the board...?

Those little bubbles are interesting. They represent flooding i'm guessing?
