i am not sure when or if mike will get a battlereport up from his game he ran at nav con this past weekend. here are a couple of high lights. i ran a japanese light cruiser and 7 tin cans on the left flank of the battle agist the us fleet. our heavy cruiers pealed off to the right of where i was headed to try to come in behind the us ships. the other light cruiser and tin cans on the right flank(japan side) took part in most of the battle and took magor losses among the tins cans. we also lost the light cruiser leading them also. the us lost all but 2 cruisers and a few tin cans in the this battle. the huston died in the first turn to gun fir and i think torps..can not recall just how she died but she went down in one turn. the java was the tail end of the cruiser line and in the last turn come under attack with 8 torp spreads......and they all bloody well missed....sigh... one rather amsuing hightlight was hitting somone with a 3 out of 4 torps in a spread which i guess is very rare to say the least. i can not recall which ships i hit with it though. the game was fun and i really did not fire much in the game since it was mostly long range for the most part from 3 tin cans and my light cruiser.

Sounds like a great time......sorry I missed it, just too close to my return home this year. I have been looking forward to playing this one as I know Mike has been working on it for some time. I helped him out with some of the DDs last year before I deployed. Look forward to the write up with pics (hint, hint).

I was already sad that I couldn't make it to Nav-con. My particular interest is naval (WWII) so Nav-Con is a highlight of the year. This last event, however, I was unable to attend. Now, I read that they fought the Battle of the Java Sea there? That's just not fair. I've interviewed about a dozen survivors of the battle and I've written a graduate thesis on the battle. Out of curiosity, were the Japanese given an advantage in regards to aircraft scouting and calling splashes for targeting?
