Pardon for the long post. But, I'm kinda confused... Using for an example, Bismarck follows Scharnhorst in firing all mains at Hood, does the below quote mean that Bismarck would get a +8 to-hit modifier (+4 for Scharnhorst firing & her three main TURRETS, plus +4 for ALL four Bismarck's main TURRETS) or is it a simple +2 modifier (+1 for Scharnhorst main BATTERY and +1 for Bismarck's main BATTERY firing? Thanks, and hope to hear back soon!!
R, Jim
Pasted verbatim from my copy, pg.19, V1.0: "Place Splash Markers on Enemy Ships - Each player places one a splash marker by every enemy ship they targeted with a main battery turret from one of his or her own ships. One splash marker is placed on the target(s) of each ship that fires main battery weapons. It is possible that a single enemy ship will have more than one splash marker placed on it if multiple ships are shooting at it."

The answer is neither . This is how the markers are placed and resolved. First, you do place one marker per ship firing main batteries at each target. So, Hood will have 2 splash markers on it. These are placed before any fire is resolved. Next, you resolve fire with each ship firing in turn. The modifier for the splash markers is +1 for each splash marker on the target beyond the first one. Therefore, each of the two ships firing on Hood receive a +1 each for the splashes. It is resolved by ship firing not number of turrets firing. Does that make sense? Eddie

Hi Eddie, Thanks for the reply! Let me get this straight, what basically happens (in my example) is Scharnhorst get's Bismarck's +1, while Bismarck get's Scharnhorst's +1? And if Gneisenau were to fire after them, it would get a +2? Thank you, again! R, Jim The answer is neither . This is how the markers are placed and resolved. You place the splash markers, then roll. So if you have two BBs/BCs firing in the BB fire step, all would get a +1 penalty. Adding Gniesenau to the mix (as a BC, it fires in the BB step) would mean all three get a +2 penalty.
Basically, the more of the same type of ship you have firing on one target, the less accurate you'll be.
