Hello,
Finished up my Star Wars stats and will start testing them out shortly, but my attention has turned now to BSG as the fighters are sharing the painting table right now the SW ones.
My interest in BSG is strictly the original series, and I have the Studio Bergstrom fighters, SB Battlestars and Basestars, and a set of Ravenstar ships that includes the ragtag fleet. I also have some ships from somewhere else (The Armoury?). I'll use the SB ships when just the military ships will be involved in the action, and switch to Ravenstar when the fleet is threatened; the SB ships are a bit smaller than the Ravenstar and don't mix and match well.
Anyway, going through MvM and this board, I've tried to match up the original series ships with what's in the rules, and here's where I am so far - I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions.
Battlestar Galactica - Acropolis Battlestar Pegasus - ? (Caesar seems too big, Parthenon is for the modern MvM setting) Basestar - Fleet Carrier II
Old Viper - Leo I (used for scenarios where relics are found) Viper - Leo II Azure Viper (from Richard Hatch's works) - Panther Scarlet Viper (ditto) - Leo III
Cylon Raider - Reaper II (since the OS Raider was best as a ship killer, not a dogfighter) For an improved Cylon Raider meant to engage Vipers, I may use the Reaper I
Then for the fleet I'll just use the civilian freighters based on size. Although I'd always imagined over their adventures they'd arm some of the ships or add fighter bays.
Thanks, Chris

I thought in TOS that the Galactica and Pegasus were the same class of ship.

The Pegasus had shields, based on one reference from the episode she was in, and I've also seen references that she carried a much heavier missile load than a standard Battlestar.

Check the suggested miniatures link at the top of this board if you haven't already. That may be of some help.

Yes, I went through that, that's what tipped me off to the Reimagined Pegasus being the Parthenon - although I'll need to figure out if the Hermes is meant as the old BSG rather than the Acropolis. But either way, it looks like I'll have to build a Pegasus based on whatever I decided is a Galactica.

The idea was for the Hermes to be the Galactica for TOS, but it is too weak to stand alone against the basestars and since the show has Galactica fighting off a lot of basestars it was decided to give an up-grade which is the Acropolis. If you are arming some of the civ ships, use the lower mass ships from the early war. The Thebes could be a convert with the small weapons and some landing bays. You may not want to treat it has a carrier, just a CA for size. The Pandora also works well for a make-shift platform. The Ra and Guardian make nice armed freighters, but are RDF so may not fit what you want. The last three ships, Vampire, Hesiodus, and Hawk are all good for small ships that were later armed. For the Cylons, TOS ships were the Assault carriers, not the fleet carriers. The fleet carriers are the larger fleet ships from Hanger 18 and Ravenstar-I like the Hanger 18 one the best. The small weight Basestars were set up with the idea that Galactica would be fighting alone against 1-3 basestars. Yes, the Cylons most likely had more fighters than these ships carry, but it is a closer fight if you stay with the lower masses. For fighters, we set up the Leo I and Reaper I to be identical with the idea that it is a close run thing for the colonials. If you want to up gun the Colonial fighters use this house rule. Colonial fighter squadrons have trained and fought together for so long against over whelming odds that they have developed a wingman strategy that allows fighters from the same squadron to support each other in battle. Allow Leo Mk I and IIs use the dogfight stats from the Leo Mk III, but cannot give the wingman bonus to other squadrons. Good luck, and have fun with this

I was under the impression that the Fleet Carriers (I&II) were the TOS basestars, I could never figure out how the Galactica would survive against them. The TOS Basestars being Assault Carriers make more sense in terms of game stats modeling the TV show. Thanks for the clarification.
I don't remember the Pegasus having shields in TOS. I know there are several references to "positive shield" and "negative shield" at various times during the show, but the in show effect was basically them closing and opening the viewport if I remember correctly.
I don't remember the Galactica ever having or using missiles, but I do remember the Pegasus using them to take out 2 basestars and go after Baltar. Man I loved that show watching reruns as a kid!
Edit: I like that you are adding content from Richard Hatch's novels, I have not read them, but I am planning on getting them soon.

Not sure if people are aware but Hanger 18 has said he is shutting down. End of 2013, I think. Details are over on the Star Ranger/SCN site. So if you want Hanger 18 stuff, better buy it fairly soon.

Thanks Warchariot, that helps a lot! I'll drop the Basestars down to the Assault Carriers.
Villiam, there was one comment by Cain in that episode about "energy shields" - it's on the wiki page for the TOS Pegasus, I don't actually remember it myself. Yeah, I'm not sure the BSG had missiles, though the wiki says she did, so I'd add them to the Pegasus only.
I have one of the Hatch novels (and all of the TOS paperbacks - but they're pretty cheesy), want to pick up the rest. The BSG wiki has a great picture of a Scarlet Viper, and Studio Bergstrom makes three types of fleet-scale Vipers, so it worked perfectly. Plus it'll be fun to paint something other than off-white and gray!

I have read all of Richard Hatch's TOS BSG stories. I love them. I hope he writes more of them. There are also some good Fanfic TOS and nuBSG stories on Fanfiction.net. I hate that Hangar18 is closing. I have bought several of his TOS and nuBSG Colonial vessels. I plan to order more before he closes his doors.

Yes, Feb 2013 is when the hanger is hanging it up. Although it sounds like Drew might take over the line, at least some of it.

Yeah, I saw that. I hope he does. The hangar has a lot of good TOS and nuBSG ships.
