Star's Reach sells itself as, "finally you can use Spinal Mount weapons on your ships!" But what it doesn't tell you up front is that, to do so, you must play with this book's flavor. It isn't portable into CBF's core book...unless I'm wildly missing something?
Since I am quite reliant on technology to build my ships, I can't add these to existing designs...and if I want to use the SR builder (hmm...is there one?) then I can't use my core builds.
Solutions?

Why is it not portable?
It gives tonnage, space, and tech level requirements for them.
I guess I'm missing something.

No, I guess you're right...as I said elsewhere, Im quite enslaved to software for making ships...and I dont have this in my ship builder Also, many things in this game assume changes to the original rules (reduced shield regen, for example), making their stats balanced within this world, but not necessarily with core-rules ships.

Well I don't have any control over the ship builders. I only furnish them to you guys for free after generous fans have donated a substantial amount of their time and effort to build them. One will be along for Star's Reach sooner or later. In the meantime, it's easy enough to leave 50 tons and the forward two slots open on your designs using the core builder. I get your point on the balance issue. The Core Rulebook is the "unbreakable" design system. For the supplements, the priority was in providing new options and dimensions to the game, instead of limiting it to just the core rules balance assumptions. I'd say a lot of people are fans of the new shield & damage systems presented. Honestly, doing an inter-book balance would not only hamstring what I could add to the system, but also require playtesting resources that as a "one man + friends" operation, I just don't have at my disposal. That said, you should be able to use them without too much problem. You're more likely to have to beef things up, than tone them down.

Well, as much as this is a 1-man operation, I love this game more than any other space game I've played...so keep it up!

Thanks! I'm just really glad you're enjoying it! Creating a fun space game for people to play was always my main objective.
