Once you start getting into the 16" USN battleships. . . the Japanese rapidly get outclassed. What about replacing the Washington with one of the older US battleline?

Gave this another got with a slightly bigger Japanese fleet fencingfrog.blogspot.com/2015/07/save-sister-sara-play-test-two.html Japanese Destroyers were also rated as Elite The North Carolina started the battle with One forward turret out of action due to previous battle damage. We didn't get to play through but the Japanese had a good chance at this one.

Third Play test of the Save Sister Sara Scenario: our first clear cut Japanese victory. Even without the lucky hit at the end I think the Japanese had a good chance. fencingfrog.blogspot.com/2015/07/save-sister-sara-play-test-iii.htmlThese have show it was probably possible to bushwhack a crippled carrier with surface forces but given the sort of escort any carrier was likely to have in this situation it would have been costly.
