So we played the game live at the Hobby Bunker game day event on Saturday and a truism of scenario design was once again proven. No matter how often you play test a scenario you cannot predict two things 1) the dice rolls in this case both sides started pretty cold but that hurt the USN more once they got close the IJN rolled really well. 2) the players, it never occurred to me that both fleets would simply charge at enemy like they were old time war galleys looking for a ship to ram... End result the IJN crushed the USN and didn't loose a ship, though one probably had to be abandon due to repeated engine hits and two others might of been in trouble if they didn't get fires under control. fencingfrog.blogspot.com/2015/08/sinking-sister-sara-hobby-bunker-game.html

Actually, in my experience I find newer naval game players tend to be VERY aggressive.
It's only a game after all. Nobody is being held to account for the (inflation adjusted) billions in equipment and thousands of lives under your command. So not a lot of concern about force preservation. LOL

If I haven't played a game before, I tend to just go at it to see how it works. Sometimes this gives some odd results. In my first Johnny reb game I charged a bunch of cannons and won! What can you say.
