Colonial Battlefleet: Seize The Initiative!quote] Wow, I like that one, it really gets to the heart of it...although it's not funny, if that's what you're looking for.

Space if full of heroes...floating home.
In case of reactor breach, go into the light.
Fight... or learn to hold your breath a long time.
Limping home beats floating home any day.
Fleets clash in the cold depths of space.

The zen of marketing is not the same as stand up comedy. It's supposed to make someone see a shirt and go "What's that about?" and ask questions.

The reason I keep saying not funny is..."We need something funny and interesting - not too over the top, but a little riskque is ok so long as its funny." from the first post.
I agree, something that catches peoples attention is what it should be about, that's why I like yours and a few other. Mine, not so great. ;D

How about:
"Zap. Boom. WIN!"
"If you build them, they will blow... up."
"Battle across the cosmos, responsibly."
"Ya, it goes FREEEEEEEM!"
"If you aren't dodging uber-destructive space missiles with our mechanics, you're not doing it right."
"Colonial Battlefleets: Sleek. Cool. ...you know you want to touch it."

LOL!
Love that last one.
Contest is going to remain open until we get around to doing the T-shirts though, so keep 'em coming. A lot of GREAT ideas here!

On the one hand, I feel that like pirates, everything is better with "funny."
However, I also see addastra's point about it being ok not to be funny, as long as it catches people's interest.
The rules of the contest do include funny. But keep in mind... As I plan to raid this post for fodder for banner ads, convention flyers, and other things in addition to T-shirts, I can see uses for the funny ones and the serious, but interesting ones. So if you don't want us using your slogan, don't post it. And if you don't win, that doesn't mean we don't plan to use it. If I use it for anything, I'll notify you by PM and arrange some sort of fabulous prize.
What we were really going for with the whole funny thing (or at least me, anyway) was, we're not one of those game companies that takes itself too seriously. I don't have an example of one that does in mind specifically, so it's not a jab at anyone else, but basically, games are supposed to be fun. Having boring advertising doesn't really give the people the impression that our games are fun. And if you look at a lot of the banner ads and T-shirts out there, there are a LOT that are serious and uninteresting.
I think my favorite Reaper CAV ad was 3 words: Big Stompy Robots. Which basically poked fun at the wispy mech chassis of Battletech (again, a practice I don't care for) but I did like the feel of that ad.

And we have winners! We've selected 3 slogans for use in banner ads for the Starship Combat News Forums. Which, while obviously not as much fun as this forum, is also pretty cool. We're still going to be raiding this thread for T-shirt slogans, but haven't gotten the design down yet, so feel free to keep posting your ideas. And the winners are, (in no particular order): kjncindywarchariotadastragamesIf you three could PM me your snail mail address, we'll arrange the Fabulous* Prizes TM. Note: "fabulous" is a relative term.

Have not yet. But did borrow a couple slogan ideas for banner ads. Was planning on sending those folks whose ideas we used a hard copy of the rules once that gets all set up.

I missed this competition first time round but if I can add an entry.
"That which can not destroy me... had better be able to make .6 past light speed."
Or for the older version "That which can not destroy me... had better be able to run."
