Everyone who is also on SCN will know I've been scratchbuilding both sides of the clone wars and now that the building is finished I need to stat them out, I've got rough stats but before I post them I thought I'd post some of my background ideas and see if people can refine them before ships hit the table. Particularly I'd like some feedback on the faction benefit ideas. First up Tech levels; Seperatists: AM-2,CW-2,FT-2,LW-1,OC-2,QM-1 Republic: AM-2,CW-2,FT-3,LW-1,OC-2,QM-1 I realize this is very low but it allows me to do; Empire: AM-3,CW-2,FT-4,LW-3,OC-4,QM-1 Rebellion: AM-3,CW-2,FT-5,LW-2,OC-3,QM-1 If anyone can pick holes in it I'm willing to listen. Faction benefits; Seperatists: Vulture droids, each ship has vulture droids carried into battle on there hull so each separatist ship can start the game with a free interceptor squadron in an adjacent hex. Republic: Jedi fighter pilots, the Jedi fighters weave through the battle lending their skill to wherever it is most needed. One fighter squadron per fighter equipped ship per turn may reroll any or all dice from one roll. Rebellion: Hyperspace capable fighters, the rebellion may begin the game with all fighters deployed. Empire: Massive resources, +10% on scenario limit. Are they balanced? Are the hyperspace fighters enough or does the rebellion need more? Does anyone have a more original idea for the empires benefit? Are vulture droids interceptors or cheap swarms with D6 for all attacks (vs fighters and vs ships)? I'm reasonably happy with the Jedi idea because it means that the Jedi have an effect and can't be taken out by a lucky Gatling laser on the first turn since there not actually represented on the table. And as a bonus here are the fighter squadron counters I've made. Thanks for any and all ideas you can throw at me. Robert Attachments:

I'm just looking forward to what you come up with for ship stats. I've been hacking around with some Rebel and Imperial stats for some of the old WotC ships, for our next big group game. But the idea is to keep it relatively straight forward and as simple as possible (i.e. no new faction rules at all). Post what you have when you can.

Just another call out, does anyone want to give me any feedback before I lock in my tech levels and finalise my Star Wars designs, I would really like a more origional idea for the Imperial faction benefit. By way of bribery heres a pic of Coruscant pasted onto a CPF planet template (the other planet is just a higher res pic of Mars) Robert Attachments:

Rebellion should not need carriers for its hyperspace fighters and be able to purchase them independently. That was actually something I had planned for the SW fleet book (although I was going to increase the cost of the fighters somewhat).
Here is another freebie:
Massive hangar bays: Imperial Star Destroyers can mount double the normal number of fighters on a hard point. You could extend that to the Venerators.

Hey, should we break out some of these topics? Maybe one for ST and one for SW?

Harry, thanks thats great, and it will have a big effect on the designs so I'm glad I asked before I finalised them.
Warchariot, I thought this was a SW topic breakout?
As I see it then; Y-Wing Hyperspace capable strike fighter, Move 6, Defense 6, Dogfight D6, Pen D10, Dam 2, Tonnage 20 X-Wing Hyperspace capable Interceptor with FFT, Move 8, Defense 7,Dogfight D10, Pen D6,Dam 1, Tonnage 20 A-Wing Hyperspace capable Recon Fighter, Move 9, Defense 7, Dogfight D10, Pen D6, Dam 1, Tonnage 18 B-Wing Hyperspace capable Heavy Strike Fighter, Move 6, Defense 7, Dogfight D6, Pen D10, Dam 3 Tonnage 26.
Means that the X-wing FFT's have to be tracked per sqn but thats just a matter of a marker on the base untill its fired.
And since the tie fighters don't have shields how about they lose a fighter on tied dogfight rolls.

"Warchariot, I thought this was a SW topic breakout?"
I meant a topic area, not just a subject thread as this is under CB rules.

You think we need a whole board for ST, SW, Bab 5, and so forth?

Nah. a whole board would be overkill.

A separate board for ship designs and factions might be useful rather than them filling up the house rules section but I agree a separate board for particular universes would be a little over the top (and may well get Harry into trouble).

I've just been loaned the 1st season of Clone Wars on DVD and I'm thinking that with Darth Sideous/Palapitine feeding the separatists info to keep them a step ahead of the Republic perhaps an initiative bonus might also be needed, or perhaps not since Palapitines whole idea was to keep the war going without either side winning while he increased his personal power?
I've been playing around with the massive hanger bays and it does make for a better Star Destroyer. I hope to start playtesting some of the designs tomorrow. Would have been last night but we had visitors.
And now that I've started actually watching the Clone Wars I may have to go back to the modeling desk and make a Malevolent. Any one got any ideas for the massive Ion cannon? I was thinking an area effect weapon like the SD Torp with a reasonably high Shield Damage, if the shields go down it does D6 Ion Damage and D6 Criticals to represent systems going offline but any reactor explosion is ignored.

I've run a couple of small battles but further playtesting got stalled due to my opponent having other things come up, I'm now away on holiday (sending this from my parents computer) so nothing is happening at the moment. All going well I should get back to this and post more in the second half of January after I've got MvM and checked it for anything I can use (Boarding Fighters = Stormtrooper assault shuttles I expect) sorry for the delay.
