It is an interesting idea. I had struggled with exactly what topic to pursue with my 15mm sci-fi ground combat game. Maybe starting with some boarding action rules would be more interesting, and a topic that has not been adequately covered elsewhere.

Great pics and an interesting idea. Has there been a dedicated boarding combat game since Snapshot?

Never heard of Snapshot, of course Space Hulk is the only one I know of, are there others?

Never heard of Snapshot, of course Space Hulk is the only one I know of, are there others? I hang my head in shame... Space Hulk was such a painfully obvious example! And, btw, Death Angel is a pretty cool card game. Snapshot was an adaptation of the personal combat rules in the old Traveller RPG. It was designed to model shipboard CQB.

There's also "Battlestations" and I think Noble Armada had a boarding party action game, too.

Thanks, I did look up snapshot, it was out in 1976 and again in 79. I'll take a look at battlestations and Noble site to see what is out there. Space Hulk and Legion of Steel are both games along this line, but I would like to see something along Harry's line, simple, fast and yet with some depth.

Heck, I remember reading Doc Smith's "Lensmen" books with their boarding actions in space . . . and I read those about 50 years ago . . . and, of course, there are many others in more recent SF.
Of course it depends upon the type of space combat that you have . . . when ships routinely blow each other up at long distance, boarding actions wouldn't be too common. They only become practical for certain types of space warfare.
And, yes, I remember "Snapshot". I don't know if I still have it, but I do have most of my original Traveller books AND a lot of the old Judges Guild supplements and sector maps . . . the ones that were "Approved" and then later declared to be "non-Canon".

I looked up Battlestations and that seems complicated and takes a while to play. It has a lot of role playing and you need a referee, nice reviews though.
Nobel Armada is part of the rules, and I know I have those, along with Space Hulk-the original.
I'll see if I can find a snapshot somewhere to look at it, but it does seem the world is crying out for a space boarding game! ;D

I found a Snapshot, new, unopened on e-bay. I'll take a look at it and see if I can find anything useful.

Ah... the Little Black Books. Good stuff. Brings me back...
