I'm working on putting several scenarios together based on the Cylon surprise attack on the Colonies in the re-imagined series.

From it and other sources I can guestimate hull types and ratios. It seems a Battlestar Group contained roughly six ships - one heavy battlestar like Galactica or Pegasus, maybe 2 Valkyrie type lighter new designs (Atropos in the rules) and 2-3 Berzerk type escorts (Marauder or Vambrace in the rules - not sure which). A very comparable Cylon force points-wise would be three Three Blade ships. Twenty of these groups would make up the 120 ships of the Colonial Fleet.
With size 2 and 1 Fire Control the Valkyrie is *extremely* vulnerable to Cylon cyber-infiltration attacks. Two easy successes and she's tumbling in space. That's fine by me since the Cylons wiped the floor with them in the attack. The solution would be for the Vipers to keep anything with a red eye at a safe distance. The heavy autocannon lacks the punch to do criticals on a baseship but that is made up in flaming volume and the ability to re-roll any missed shots.
Assuming I'm accurate so far, I'm wondering how to make the best use of the Berzerk/Marauder escort. The gatling autocannon can technically engage fighters at some range but, with 2 fire control and ATT d6, they're not hot enough to take down DEF 8 Cylon fighters even one hex away. Plus their flak and PD can't help out if they're not directly attacked. It seems they're useless as an "escort" unless they can somehow park in the path of incoming missiles. I'm sure I'm missing something.
