There's more demand for Naval Thunder ships and supplements than I can keep up with. So, as proposed by afilter in this thread: steeldreadnought.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ntgen&action=display&thread=429here's a board for the community to discuss their own ideas, until I can publish the actual supplements Please indicate which system each thread pertains to, using one of the following tags: BR CoD RotB BR = Battleship Row CD = Clash of Dreadnoughts RotB = Rise of the Battleship We'll try this out for a while and see how it works.

Thanks.....my hope is that with all the interest and knowledge we can collaborate and help you out. Any chance you can post any guidance you use to figure hull points as well as references you prefer to use for developing ship data? As many of us know not all references always agree.

All from experience I recomend we try to keep it to one ship per thread otherwise it could become dificult to track progress. You do not have to have all the answers to start a thread. I would suggest each ship thread be titled with the ship name/class. In the first post try to include as much data as you can such as armament, armor, tonnage, dates, sister ships etc. As well as suggested stats if you have some already. Resources would be great as well. Discussion can flow from there.

I use Conways for all my data.
Hull points are standard discplacement / 250. A lot of people have figured that out just from doing the math backwards, so its not really any big secret. Same with speed. Speed is knots /4.

The info on wikipedia is usually pretty close, but not always.

Armor ratings can often be figured out by finding another ship with the same thickness and TYPE of armor . . . perhaps not perfect, but pretty close.
Note that the armor type is very important because that changed protection by quite a bit.
The difficult thing for me has always been the "point value" of the ship . . . because it also depends upon the role expected to be played . . . and I've not figured out Harry's formula for that . . . which he might not care to reveal.

Harry,
I have never really used points, but I know some like them for comparing units and doing "What if" OoB. Care to share the secret or maybe you can just add them to units as we create them?

This is all you guys. I'm just providing an organized place in which to discuss, because i know you guys will enjoy it, and it will give people something to work with until the supplements are out. I feel you ought to be able to do a good approximation of most ship stats based on the hundreds of examples.
Point values are proprietary, but I can tell you not to waste your time trying to reverse engineer them. Its that complicated. However you might be able to best guess it just by comparing to others and get in the rough ball park.
As new supplements are released you guys can see how close you got to the actual data cards.

Understand, personally I am not going to worry about the point as I have yet to use them. As for getting close my hope is we end up dead on for most and this project makes it easier for you to produce future supplements.

What is the approximate ground scale of the game - how many yards to the inch? Is there a time scale of minutes/turn? I ask because I want to set up some historical scenarios and need to figure out table size to allow for location of land masses, ship starting locations, and so forth. Thanks.
BTW, just got the WW2 rules and Bitter Rivals and am impressed by what I see. Good job!
