Hi all! I just purchased the Core Rule set and after a quick read, did what every good wargamer should do....build the biggest ship possible to impress my wife....well, maybe at least my other gaming friends When creating a 1000 ton BBB, I ran into a question on Engine costs. On page 95, it refers to you to CCT to determine how much each point of Delta will cost you. Per the CCT on page 102 it costs 300 points for each point of Delta for a 1000 ton ship (assuming im reading that right) . When I use the Excel Colonial Shipyard sheet, it shows 240 points. I checked a few other hull sizes and the engine costs are all lower than what the CCT in the book indicates. So am I missing another modifiying calculation that should be lowering the CCT number or is the excel sheet giving me an incorrect number? By the way, with the exception of that one little bit, I LOVE the excel ship builder...super easy. Thanks!!

Actually, there's a reason for that. . . Anti-matter Manipulation Level 5 grants you - 20% to your engine costs. So when you're building ships on the DEFAULT setting, you're getting that benefit. If you don't want to take advantage of it, just use custom tech levels and set AM to Level 4. That's pretty much the only thing you'll be losing out on.

Ahh...makes sense. Actually, thats pretty cool...gives you plenty of flexibility.
Thanks for the quick response!

So am I missing another modifiying calculation that should be lowering the CCT number or is the excel sheet giving me an incorrect number? Check the Antimatter tech level. If the tech level is 5, then the ship gets a 20% space discount on Engine costs, which would give you the numbers you're getting.
