After many weeks of delays, I finally had my first game of CB!
A friend came over, we picked 1300 points of ships, and went at it. I had 3 heavier ships and he spread his points out over 5 ships. We took no fighters.
The rules played better than we both thought, and we really are looking forward to trying our hand at ship design and throwing fighters into the mix!
The only problem we had was wanting a cheat sheet, or some kind of reference. We had to keep finding the Crit table a lot, but figure we can make our own without too much fuss.
We look forward to playing more!

Glad you guys had fun. Maybe next time you should write up a battle report and take some pics.

We all felt like there should be a cheat sheet in the beginning, but after just a few games you'll be able to remember it all, even the crits.

I cut and pasted the crits, fighter stats, fire arcs and weapon list on to a single page in word and printed that as a cheat sheet. I really should double side it with the turn tracking chart just to cut down on the paper on table.

Toaster, thats what I did. I printed out the Turn Tracking sheet, and on the other side, photocopied the charts we felt were informative and taped them on. It makes a decent cheat sheet when in a sheet protector.
Sadly, pics wouldnt be exciting yet as we are merely using paper cutouts so thougtfully provided by some of the guys on Star Ranger, on a 1" hex D&D map. I have a GZG fleet but my friend doesnt, so until he gets one (ie never) we'll be using paper unless I find other opponents with actual models.
Thanks all!

Or until you start building more fleets yourself!

LOL youre right...but sadly most of my money goes into my Epic: Armageddon fund these days...and my fleet has languished for years untouched. At least I got paint on my assembled models in January...which was spured by this ruleset!

Now you'll be wanting to play moire with more ships, different fleets...this is how you get hooked on historical gaming...

Playing with miniatures really enhances the game.
Space fleets for under 50c a ship, ask me how. (some assembly required LOL)

Well don't hold back, sir!
I am one of those slightly ADD guys who needs things to "look right" before I buy them/do them (this is why my Epic: Armageddon terrain is only partially done - Im too picky to blaze through it!), but Im also down for some DIY love!

I posted this how to article on SCN a while back so I didn't have to repeat myself every time I posted a new scratchbuilt and people asked how I did it. www.star-ranger.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=2635The best advice is start small and build up your confidence, file a nose on a length of sprue and add fins till you like the look. Then try adding extra bits of sprue as engines and get more creative with the wings. Or use the heads off plasic spoons and add fins and wire guns to them. Here are plans and pics of how far you can go with sprue and fins www.star-ranger.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=6591As you gain confidence you can start building up your fins into thicker pieces and filing to shape, Here's a step by step for a Hyperion from B5. www.star-ranger.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=2659I see from your member profile over on SCN you've been there since 2008 so you shouldn't have any trouble finding my more recent WIP examples. Remember check the yellow pages under plastic goods manufacturers and see what price they will sell large sheets of 1mm hard styrene for, you will be pleasantly suprised. Happy shipbuilding Robert

I cant believe I never thought of this! I use 1mm plasticard for terrain building in Epic all the time...and just buy the Plastruct or Evergreen sheets at the train shop. Brilliant!

@ Kealios Don't kick yourself over it, I didn't know about it untill a friend who works as a modelmaker in the movie industry told me about it. They also sell different colours if your worried about white showing through any scratches in the paint.
