So when do we get a hint about the jap animation inspired fleet book with rules for ridiculously big spinal mount weapons. Not that I'm asking for any particular reason LOL. Robert Attachments:

I was thinking that a temporary fix (and far from perfect as it only works for CA and smaller vessels) might be to allow a vessel to carry a fixed, forward-firing weapon typically only carried by CA+ or BC+ vessels. This weapon would take up both forward slots.

Spinal weapons are planned for the next fleet book. Not sure it's anime-inspired book, but it will have them nonetheless.

Thanks Dread, you've made my wallet cringe but my minis are drooling at the prospect.

For the curious. . .
So far there are at least 3 unique spinal weapon types that will be included in the next fleet book. Its on the verge of going to playtest.

How is this coming? And will it have Mechas as options for fighters?

How would a mecha fighter look different from a regular fighter in starship combat?
And, as mentioned, this isn't really an "Anime" book. . . it just has spinal mounts and could do some anime like things as a result.

I always liked the way "Lightning Strike" (Jovian Chronicles) handled them... they were much more nasty than regular attack craft once they got in close. They could land on the hull of an enemy vessel and start cutting into it.
Tough to counter unless you had your own.

How would a mecha fighter look different from a regular fighter in starship combat? Well, when I think of the mecha types from ExoSquad or Robotech, the big distinction would be that the mecha fighter itself becomes a boarding party. In the various settings where this happens, it's an asset of versatility, though I'm not sure if the same would be true with how CFB handles boarding.

Any update on this next book?
My favourite vessel in Homeworld was the Ion Cannon Frigate.... Its only job was to deploy a single direct fire weapon onto the (star)field. It was the seige weapon of the game, with a small group taking out capital ships, it was awesome!
Looking forward to hearing about it

I have few memories fonder than playing the homeworld beta in high school. I would just stare in awe at a dozen ion cannon frigates surrounded an enemy capital ship lancing fire into it.
I'm curious if the spinal weapons will be new weapons in their own right, or rules for mounting larger weapons on smaller ships.
I think I'd like some of both. New weapons are always fun, and being able to mount an ion cannon on a destroyer would be amazing.

The spinal weapons are new, unique weapons. . . and pretty awesome ones.
The rules for weapon size vs. hull size are a balance issue and unlikely to go away I'm sorry to say.

We pushed the limit on some of the weapons for MvM and asked Dread to relax the restrictions, didn't happen because if you open that door even a crack... ;D

Not at this point. . . but there may be some opportunities for testing future products if you're interested.
