I have a destroyer with 2 Point Defense. Some of my Capital ships are in jeopardy of being struck with missiles, so the DD does what any self-respecting officer wouldnt do, and he jukes through the missile field, taking shots as he can to clear the way. He passes through 2 missiles, and assigns 1 point of PD to each as he flies through. Having exhausted his PD for the phase, he ends his movement next to another missile. At this point, ECM would dictate that he should be able to swat the 3rd from the sky, but ECM on p.22 says the ship must have an "active" point defense system to do so. I assume at this point that "active" means "not destroyed", but it COULD also mean that it needs to be "available for use", which in this scenario it wouldnt be, as it is exhausted for this phase. So, can I take out the 3rd missile or not? Help!

Yes, he can. You are correct, "active" in this context means "not destroyed." Your destroyer did exactly what it was supposed to. Destroyers are cheap. Battleships are expensive.

Yep, Desroyers, or as we call them missile magnets are great for this. They are double useful if they have the screen role
