Wow, that does make a difference in points. I generally don't follow the point structure all that much when designing scenarios, but I can see why it was just holding its own against a South Dakota in the game I just finished. Yeah, going from Yamato's 9 guns to Super-Yamato's 6 guns is a 33% drop in firepower, offset only by the greater penetration and damage of the new guns. While the new guns are a lot more effective than the old. . . they just don't quite make up for those extra three barrels.

The IJN had to know that also. But the Battleship Admirals were known as the 'Gun Club' in the USN. The IJN had the same type of group. I guess they just had to know they had the biggest gun. The known USN (being built and planned) BB's would probably not had any immunity zone against a 20.1" gun.
