Hi folks,
Running through the design rules and the shipyard, I have some questions:
1. FC - can FC ever exceed 6, such as battleline purchasing 6 and then gaining +1? 2. PD - can PD ever exceed the amount allowed per tech level, as in a defender purchasing max and gaining +1? 3. Arcs 1 - are hardpoints allowed access to Forward and Aft arcs simultaneously - F/S/A, F/P/A? Shipyard doesn't allow it, rules do not seem to exclude. 4. Arcs 2 - must arcs be contiguous? Seems to make sense based on turrets enabling the additional arcs, but could I build P/S arcs?
I'm having a lot of fun working out some new ships to use but don't want to violate rules without knowing I'm straying into house rule territory.

No, PD is tied to tech levels. 3. In MvM you can do this, thought you could in base rules after some changes, but maybe not. 4. Arcs are contiguous. I believe you are playing the base rules, which I haven't played in awhile so may be giving you MvM versions. The point is, these may/could change with fleetbooks-see #3 above. Glad you're having fun with these!

The builder allows P/S arcs.

P/S arcs are legal.
F/P/A F/S/A
are not. We found that these offered too much 'bang for the buck'. Future supplements will see a variety of new arcs introduced though.

Thanks for the reminder, P/S is what I remembered from MvM, and did we take off the F/S/A acrs? Sorry, I wasn't looking at the Ship Builder, but I do remember the discussion!

Thank you for the clarifications. I now need one more on delta. The items above still impose a max value even when a ship role gives a bonus. The tech rules on antimatter state it is the max delta before role adjustments. To me, that implies that RDF can exceed the faction tech delta by one, unlike PD or FC (which isn't really based on tech levels). Is that a correct interpretation, or does RDF role still have to fit in the tech max and should just buy up to one less than max?

No role adjustments can exceed maximums.

Great, I'm glad it is consistent. I like that about CBF, not a lot of exceptions. I'm teaching my daughter how to play after an aborted attempt at getting her interested in SFB. When I pulled out my rules binder, she balked without even playing

Glad you like it. That was in fact a design goal to keep things as consistent as possible.
