It is my understanding that Grape Shot can be used to stop incoming missiles, but I cannot find anything stating so in the Core rules. Is it there and just hiding from me, or am I mistaken and Grape Shot does not effect Missiles?

In the core rules grape shot does not affect missiles.
In CBF, missiles are self-contained starships with their own shielding and point defense systems. With such a small cross section, not enough of the grapeshot will strike a missile to overwhelm its defenses.
If you want to create a grapeshot vs. missile rule, I'd say something like roll 2d10. If at least 1 die comes up a 10, the missile is destroyed.
But that dramatically increases the power of grapeshot FYI.

I had gotten this idea from you Dread. In my imfamous thread about missile ships always win you said. But I very much agree that Grape Shot should not affect missiles.

So here's a fact. . .
My experience as a rules author has been that fans of the game will often know the details of the game better than I do. The reason for this is that:
1. By the time the rules see publication, I've been working on a new project for some time.
2. The rules have been through so many variations during development that I can't always remember which variant was the final one.
That's why I will frequently let some of our top people here carry the torch on responding to rule questions if I don't know for sure. . . because they're probably more familiar with them than I am at this point.
That said. . . for any given rule I can generally tell you off the top fo my head WHY its written the way it is. . . which I think is valuable information sometimes.

I know exactly what you mean, I've recently published a set of rules called PMG Ancients and I am continually having to grab a copy of the rules to remind myself which way we went on several items. The massive amount of options developers go through to find 1) what they like, 2) keeping things balanced, and 3) making the majority of users happy is daunting.
Tonight I will try to post the AAR for our battle this past weekend.
