So what models do you play with? I know Warchariot is using BSG models. Anyone else using any others? I currently have two large BFG fleets and 3 smallish Full Thrust fleets (just finishing up painting them and will post some pics when I do). I really like the Full Thrust line as they scale with each other really well. One of big gripes with B5: ACTA was their ship scales were terrible. I had "skirmish" level ships that were as big as BB...uggg!! Also, what kinds of bases is everyone using? Hex, round, etc? Ive been sticking with the Full thrust bases (1.5 inch and 1 inch hexes). That works well since I plan on getting a 4x6 hex map with 1.5 inche hexes . My thought process is to base all Cap ships on the bigger 1.5" bases and all escorts on the smaller ones (just so folks can easily see whats what). I might

Yep, I do have BSG ships, but also Full Thrust both old style and new, BFG old and new, B5 both scales, but I like the FA scale best for them. I do have some other ships from odd manufactures and some other big ones too.
As to basing, we have used the FT bases and GW clear bases the most. For BSG we went to Litko hex bases in 2.5 for large ships and 1.33 for the smaller and fighters. This works well on the 3 inch hex map we have and has the benefit of keeping ships away from each other. That was one of your issues with Full Thrust is that ships needed to be on top each other, something else CB fixed!

Yeah, I was looking at thos Litko bases as well (the 1.3 inch). I hope to pick some up at Historicon next week.
How big is you game mat? Is it 4x6? If so, thats only 16 hexes wide...do you ever run into maneuverability issues? I would like the wider hexes for the reason youlisted above (more room for models) but was worried about number of hexes. Would love to hear your thoughts (or anyone else).

The mat is really two butted together and are approximately 6x8 (together) so is about the same as a 1 1/2 hex for 4x6. It is about 21 hexes by 36ish hexes.

We actually just play with a combination of Twilight Imperium 3, Twilight Imperium 2, and Buck Rogers plastic minis lol. They aren't the ultimate models or anything, but they get the job done and they are cheap (ie, I already have tons of them from those games).

Wonder if you can get spare parts for those games. I'm just too much of a tightwad to dump hundreds of dollars into a good collection of minis, not to mention not being artistic enough to think I could do a decent paint job... so I'm always looking out for something cheap and plastic to give a little 3dness to my games without breaking the bank. I'm about to break down and just go down to Home Depot and get a collection of plumbing and wiring bits and bobs to make ships out of

Look under his thread for scratch building. Plus if you PMed him, I'm sure he has some useful ideas.

I have two 4x6s down in my game room that we can push together as well. Currently, i have tables that are painted with starfields on one side for our bigger space games but need to get some hex mats. Are yours from Hotz mats? From various pics, I think thats who im going to go with. I hope I can pick some up next week at Historicon...if not, will have to order them and wait (we hates waitings...evil waitings...)

Do you have them based or keep them unbased for potential games of TI? I remember liking those models when we played the game last year.

They are unbased. We still play TI3 from time to time so I wouldnt want to ruin in the minis for that. And honestly, it's not a big deal having them unbased. Between the 3 games, I have a lot of different types of hulls including multiple types of Fighters to represent Ints vs Strike.

ROFL...I LOVE the way they try and get around the copyright issues of making 'known' ships: Bow-tie Fighters Nern Cruisers I.M.P. Destroyers Sing-on Battlecruiser lol
