I've built an EW cruiser for my fleet and I need to make up a role for it, the problem is not a lack of ideas but a glut, there is probably enough to produce separate EW and AWACS roles.
What I need is to thin down the list to make a balanced and worthwhile role that is neither over or under powered. The AWACS type bonuses in particular look like they could be used to make a killer fighter fleet if to many of them were used.
The other option is to make this role mass intensive so that the ship has to give up a certain percentage of mass as per the fleet auxiliary, this would mean it was a force multiplier for other ships but quite ineffective on its own which fits nicely with what I feel is the greatest strength of the whole role concept.
So if everyone could design an EW role starting from the suggestions above we'll see if we get some sort of consensus.
The perfect test for a balanced role is when you agonize over whether to take it, or another battle line ship.

- Bonus to ECM, either double number of missiles or 2 hex range.
- Anti fighter ECM, works like anti missile ECM but against fighters, or should it just leave them in helpless state.
- Bonus to friendly fighters within x hexes.
- Counts as a carrier for fighter range calculations.
- Counts as a screen ship against cloaked scouts.
- Neutralizes enemy flagship initiative bonus within x hexes. If both sides have EW cruisers in range roll 1D10 per PD and compare rolls as per dogfight, winner cancels losers flagship bonus.
- Blocks scouts FC bonus
- Allows friendly ships within 4 hexes to use FC bonus against scouts.
- -1 to enemy FC when targeting ships within 4 hexes of EW ship.
