Hi All,
Just looking at this in the rules and there is a +1 modifier for radar fire control. This is a significant advantage so I tried digging around to see what it was based on.
The early battle between Bismark and Hood was a fight between 2 radar equipped ships but the overall hit rate was pretty miserable (~3-5%) I think.
At Matapan the RN used radar to close on the Italian Navy, but fire was conducted using star shells and optical fire control.
In the Pacific, the USS Washington mauled the Kirishima using its radar guided guns. (hit rate ~15%)
I know there is an optional rule as to whether a ship uses its radar or not, but is it as simple as a +1 to hit for all radar equipped ships? This would leave pretty much all Axis and IJN ships at a significant disadvantage at most ranges.
Cheers, Tom
