Hi
Just wondering what people use as their ship basing technique.
I did a bit of research and after some tests / trial and error hope to mount my models on 1.5mm plastic bases (to prevent warping) and use PVA/ tinfoil to create the sea effect prior to painting. My plan is to paint with a number of washes and dry brushes to give some depth. The wakes will take a bit of work and experimentation I think.
I've seen some other basing with just PVA glue but it doesn't seem to capture the irregularities you see in the sea.
Any other tips or recommendations?
Thanks, Tom

Hi Tom, I use a similar technique, 2mm plastic bases but instead I use baking or greaseproof paper stuck down with PVA glue. Scrunch up the paper a lot, then smooth out a little before sticking down. Gives a nice rippled effect. Then wash and highlight to preferred colour. I also add a little bit of textured polyfiller to the prow and stern. Here is an example at 1/2400 scale Attachments:

Looks good. Yes that is the type of effect I am aiming for. Thanks for the tips.
