I am new to the rules and I am unsure of the application of the rule on page 29 under “Main Battery Turrets”.
How is this rule applied to light cruisers and destroyers that don’t have main battery turrets? Their guns being smaller and counting as secondary weapons when firing.
I had thought that if a light cruiser or destroyer was hit and suffered a main battery hit it suffers the loss of one of its primary turrets, typical a 6” turret in light cruisers.
An alternate interpretation is that such vessels only suffer a turret loss if a secondary turret is hit. This is because light cruisers principe armaments are listed in the secondary armaments section. Therefore any critical hits that result against a main battery turret hit have this rule is applied. However, if that is correct a destroyer scoring a single hit at a light cruiser main turret will typically do 7 points of damage, typically 2 plus 5. This is more than an 8” shell from a heavy cruiser.
I’m therefore somewhat confused. Looking forward to a reply.
