Jim Pitts has posted a (fictional) Pre-Dreadnought battle on the Jackson Gamers blog: jacksongamers.blogspot.com/2010/12/battle-of-sea-of-japan.htmlHe's not using our rules, but a set written by a fellow in their club . . . but the photos are worth a look . . . and his homemade splash markers certainly work well. -- Jeff

Harry,
For pure surface gunnery battles, the Pre-Dread era is great. Vessels used similar guns . . . but many of the ship designs were kind of funky . . . and most every ship had at least two or three different sized guns.
Try it, you'll like it.

Thanks for the link, nice looking game. But really Blue Bear, try it, you'll like it was an ad line for Alka Seltzer (sp?). Not the best way to get someone to try it

These blogs are great....makes me think about doing my own if I were a bit more CPU literate. Harry, how can you not do Pre-Dreads.....The one time period where the BB truly was king of the Sea. I have always enjoyed Naval agming as a rule, but did not start RJW until seeing RoTB played at NAVCON in October...no looking back now. Really makes me look forward to RoTB II (Hint, Hint)

"Try It, You'll Like It" was an early 1970s Alka-Seltzer spot. And Mikey (of Life cereal fame) was told the same thing in the mid-late '70s. So, you've both got it right!
