We took identical ships from the back of the rulebook for our first fight. A Vanguard BB and two Aegis CLs each. We had a good time, but a couple of things:
We aren't interested in 12 point hex movement for ships, but how about for missiles? Would that seriously break the game?
Also, how exactly does a cluster missile attack a ship?
Thanks.

Also, how exactly does a cluster missile attack a ship? Thanks. When the cluster missile attacks a ship, you resolve it as a regular missile attack, using the stat line on page 30 to roll the appropriate dice (That is, cluster missiles only roll 1d6 to attack).

Mixing 12 point movement for missiles with 6 point movement for ships would work just fine.

So we also played clusters as a single missile as far has Flak and P Def fire is that correct or would you shoot at them as six missiles and then let the leftovers have a single D6?

Single missile for clusters. They only dispense submunitions against small targets. From a game balance perspective treating clusters a six missiles each would make it a point-defense saturation super-weapon.

And from fluff perspective, I'm willing to bet that the kill-machine that is the standard ASGM is harder to shoot down on its lonesome than even the six rather unprotected submunitions of the cluster missile. Alternately, the size of the submunitions means that they must be launched from close up, meaning the PDS has an easier time of destroying the carrier vehicle in-flight before it launches.

So should some of the custer missile discussion be moved to the CB: Core Rules errata area, or do we need an FAQ area for such things?

Not sure this is really errata per se. Might be worthwhile having a FAQ thread though.
I'll set something up here soon.
