No, not any new firearms although I did see some impressive stuff.
My eldest talked me into taking him to a local fire arm show today with the intention of just looking. I am currently re-taking a Hunter's safety course with my two sons. My eldest is really getting into it and both would like a gun of there own once they grduate now that they have started to learn about an appreciate firearms which I am not opposed to.
So off we went with no intention of buying anything, but just looking and picking up a few cards since local firearm dealers are not as plentiful as they use to be.
Again, I say no intent to buy, infact after paying the $10 admission I only had $40 left in my wallet.
As we made out way around the show admiring many modern sport and military guns as well as some very nice vintage military weapons including Mosign Naught, Arisakas and a few M1 Garands I ran across an old ROTC classmate who now specializes in military collectibles. He actually supplied some of the equipment for "The Pacific" and had some of the stuff they used in the production there for sale.
As I purused his stuff I came across several orginal canteen sets and could picture CPT Miller fumbling with the top shaking and decided I had to have one. After some dealing I was able to come away with a canteen, cup and cover all oriinal and each peice with the 1943 MFG date on it. I also scored as WWII .30 cal Ammo box all original paint.
When we arrived home the Mrs. was not as impressed with our new treassures, so I figured I will share them here where they might be more appreciated.
Not a bad haul for $40 IMO.
