Hey, finally played our first game of MvM lastnight, and a couple of fighter questions popped up that are probably in the rules, we just missed (I didn't have my copy with me, and a buddy was reading to me from a laptop, so HE may have missed them, I should say...):
1. When the aggressive player moves his fighters into contact with the tactical players fighters, can the tactical player move his fighters away when it is his turn to move fighters, or are they embroiled for the turn until one side dies?
2. Can more than 1 fighter squadron dogpile into a combat if they are not at full strength? i.e., can I put 2x fighters at 3 strength against 1x fighter at 5 strength? (or would the second fighter just so Wingman bonus?)
3. Can you consolidate fighter squadrons together to create full strength ones during the course of play? (we're thinking of making a house rule to allow this, if for nothing else than to declutter the playing table)
Thanks!

Unofficial answers:

The tactical player can move his fighters away. That's the key difference between aggressive and tactical. Being aggressive is a good way to swarm the other guy's capital ship for example.
2. Can more than 1 fighter squadron dogpile into a combat if they are not at full strength? i.e., can I put 2x fighters at 3 strength against 1x fighter at 5 strength? (or would the second fighter just so Wingman bonus?)
Each of the 3-strength fighters could attack the solo 5-strength squadron, but each attack would be separate. Assuming you were the aggressive player, the first 3-strength could attack then after that, the next 3-strength would attack. Then the tactical squadrons would fire back.
As for the wingman bonus on page 56 it says the squadron has to have at least 4 fighters.
3. Can you consolidate fighter squadrons together to create full strength ones during the course of play? (we're thinking of making a house rule to allow this, if for nothing else than to declutter the playing table)
Yes you can consolidate, the rules are on pages 54 and 55.

But to be clear, you can only consolidate while both understrength squadrons are on board a carrier. House rules, of course, can change that.

Yes, but its important to remember that consolidation of understregth squadrons actually confers significant tactical advantages and doesn't just declutter the table. Having squadrons return to their carrier to consolidate is a nice little bit of flavor too and provides reasons to land as well as launch squadrons.

Yes like wingman bonus, Cyber attacks, and nukes to name a few.
