From Wikepedia:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Maine_(ACR-1)USS Maine (ACR-1) was the United States Navy's second commissioned pre-dreadnought battleship,[1][Note 1] although she was originally classified as an armored cruiser. She is best known for her catastrophic loss in Havana harbor. Maine had been sent to Havana, Cuba to protect U.S. interests during the Cuban revolt against Spain.[2] On the evening of 15 February 1898, she suddenly exploded, and swiftly sank, killing nearly three quarters of her crew.[3] Though then, as now, the cause and responsibility for her sinking were unclear; popular opinion in the U.S. blamed Spain, and the sinking (popularized in the phrase Remember the Maine, to Hell with Spain!) was one of the precipitating events of the Spanish–American War.[3][4] Her sinking remains the subject of speculation, with various authors proposing that she sank due to the results of an undetected fire in one of her coal bunkers,[3] that she was the victim of a naval mine,[3] and that she was deliberately sunk for the purposes of driving the U.S. into a war with Spain. The cause of the explosion that sank the ship remains a mystery.[3]I am really pleased with how the masts turned out on this one. Really looking forward to sail her on the gaming table once RotB 2 is released. Hope you like her.

I like her a lot . . . too bad she'll get blown up . . . maybe you should give her to me so that you won't suffer the trauma when that happens.
Truly, Aaron, I'm only trying to ease your pain . . . contact me privately for my shipping address . . . you know that you don't want to suffer.

I do not believe in passing off my problems onto others, so I will likely just suck it up and make do somehow. I really enjoyed doing this one as I recall reading about the USS Maine and the Spanish American War during school as a youth and it really peaked my interest. I was fortunate that I purchased a box of Minis in the silent auction at NAVCON last fall not really knowing what all was there. After a bit of reseach I found it included many Russo-Japan units both Ps and Viking Forge, and also a handful of PS Americans as well. I will likely wait to see the RotB2 suplement before placing a large PS order, but in the mean time I can get started with ships like USS MAINE, USS Olympia, USS Indiana and a few others that are in the box. First order of business this weekend is to put the finishing touches on my Tsushima fleet though so my Russians and Japanese will be complete for the battles of Ulsan, Yellow Sea and Tsushima.

Friends and I visited the USS Olympia on our last Historicon/Philly trip a few years back. it was fun, but didn't get to go in the turrets.
