The old paint the mast first trick, good tip. Yes, I learned the hard way this is critical. The paint does not even need to be compltely dry, but it help the glue bond instantly upon contact.

I have a few Spanish American War Ships that are begging for paint, so I decided to get started documenting the process with pictures.
More to come......

Guys, I am very bummed my camera just completely failed me for th first time. I spent the past two hours completing both ships and I documented each step with pics checking them as I went along. I just tried to download the pics and none of what I just took are there. Oh Well, I will try again another time when I get some more. In the mean time I was able to re-take some pics of the completed products which I will post.

I will finish it, it will just have to be with a different ship. The bummer is I had a good pic for just about ever step of the process.

Ouch! Well, now you have an excuse to get more ships . . . just to show us the process . . . see your camera was nice to you and you just didn't realize it.
By the way, "thank you" for this tutorial, sir.

New strategy....I have had Pre-dreads on the brain. Since we are waiting on RotB2 this may be a good time to go back and Mast some of my WWI PS ships to include a few tripods. Someone shared this wonderful site which is a great resource for pics: www.maritimequest.com/photo_gallery.htmMore on the way in a few days....... Yes, I will use a different camera.

Ah, but one must learn to "swim" before one tries to "fly". . . . so don't listen to Larry, he sometimes turns to the "dark side".

Outstanding. The difference the masts make is quite striking.
