I received my US and Japanese 1/6000 scale fleets in this week and didn't realize how tiny they were going to be. They have some awesome detail for such small pieces. I'm afraid if I drop a destroyer on the floor it'll be lost forever! I use a good 'ol Plano tackle box for my larger 1/1800 scale ships but it's way to big for these. What do you guys use/recommend for storage and transport?

Some of the smaller Plano "Stowaway" utility boxes might work. Something like a 3449-85 or a (bigger) 2-3500 could fit your needs.

Here is this one. Its kinda like the ones we used for WAS but smaller. It might work out well for the smaller stuff since the trays are adjustable. You could always put some thin foam in there to keep them from rattling around. Its dimensions are: 11'' x 7.25'' x 10'' and it only runs about 20.00 bucks online plus shipping.

One or two Plano tackle box trays should do it for you. If I'm going across town I can place two ships in a section and they are fine. If further, I place foam down on top to hold them in place. Also, I cut felt to line the bottom and a peice for the top just to be safe.

Sorry I only have my nook and am stuck out of town due to weather so I cannot post pics. I used some small plastic thin boxes/trays that were lines with foam so the ships wpuld not move. Entire fleets 30-40 ships will fit in one small box. Similar to GHQ bunker boxes.
HTH?

I have a rather large collection of 1:6000 as well (ask Leslie, Mrs. Dread, she did the painting for me!) and what I have done for storage is.
1. cut plastic metal for under the bases (i don't use magnet on the ship because at their small size they can attract each other) 2. take empty CD cases apart, keep the bottoms and line them with magnet sheet. 3. place ships on CD cases. 4 get a CD storage rack (Case Logic CD-30 is great) and slide in CD trays with ships. 1 case will hold 26 trays which is a lot of ships. 5 if you get the version of the CD-30 with the carring case you are now also transportable.
I use this method for everything from 6mm minies to my 1:6000 ships and it works great!

The only ships that wont fit in the CD case are the Yamato's and t A-150's due to the height of the bridge. I'll figure some way to make it work though. Do you have some pictures posted of your ships? I'd love to see 'em.

I hope to get the CB:MvM shipbuilder done this weekend, and will also try and get some pictures taken and put them up here.

BBOk - A-150's? I'm sorry to be such an idiot, please help me... Basically Super Yamato that were designed and never completed. Due to war time demands the plan was scrapped. Comparable to the Montana class and a favorite what if for some gamers. Here is a reference: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Design_A-150_battleshipBTW, here is a pick of the boxes I used to store my 1/6000 before I sold the collection in favor of just using WaS for WWII. Sorry I do not have a pic with the box full. As you can see one box would hold alot of ships and they are small enough that they caould fit in a coat pocket.
