After ordering a bunch of ships earlier this month I've finally got around to painting one. Not massively pleased with how it looks in these photos, the wash I put on looks awful! But it looks ok in real life so I'm not going to do to much more. Here's my version of the Bismarck in her revised Baltic fleet scheme (circa march-may 1941): The model is originally by a company called Davco, mastered in 1977, now made by Skytrex. I did very little with the model itself other than cleaning it up and adding the masts. The sea is just crinkled up tin foil stuck on a plasticard base, with added bow wave and wake sculpted on in milliput. I've got a ton more ships, just German and British at the moment, I'll no doubt end up doing a load of Italian ships too at some point. Next up for painting will probably have to be Prinz Eugen.

I like the foil idea, I've always just used putty all over the base. The wash looks okay in the pictures and the ship came out just fine. Keep going, so you can try a game.

Cheers guys, going to do a bit of touch up on this ship still and do some more details. Partly due to the fact I dropped it off my desk and chipped the paint on the bow (d'oh!).
I've got all the ships needed for the Battle of the Denmark Strait and Sink the Bismarck. So they're what I'm doing first. I'm still in two minds about adding name tags to my ships, the fact I don't have access to a printer means I'll have to add them later though!

Skytrex / Davco have been trading in the United Kingdom for at least 25 years in some form or another - similar to Navwar (ex also Heroics and Ros) (37 years). Both have extensive 1/3000th scale ranges IIRC. Hope this helps... Whoops! Almost forgot to say nice paint job - way better than I could do!!
