Harry and I played a game tonight to test some tweaks to the rules for Star Trek style combat. I played Klingons and Harry played the Federation.
I stomped him so bad he requested I not post a battle report.
Heh.

Ah, don'tpanic, PLEASE post a battle report . . . solely of course, so that we can get a feeling for how a scenario might play out (such as valiant Klingons whomping on those "goody two shoe" Federation wusses).

Well we had to make some rules tweaks mid-game so we'll replay with the new rules and I'll take pictures and post a real battle report. Hopefully tonight or tomorrow.

Intersting - I just purchased the Klingon Armada rules for ST games, but I would be more interested in a version of your rules

The question is - what Trek period are you playing?
I'm interested in TOS and Enterprise. DS9 and later NG really got silly.

Movie era was always my favorite b/c of the impact Star Trek II had on me as a kid. It also happens to be the era for which I have the most miniatures, so that is what we were playing.
No reason that whenever these come out you couldn't design original series ships with them. Question is, how much interest is there going to be in playing original series ship against movie era ships?
Reason for that being, if nobody is ever going to do crossovers, you could probably get away with using the same stats for both, since it will all be internally consistent. If you want to mix time periods, then you have to have rules that reflect the tech advance between the two. Got some ideas on that already, but not sure if its worth pursuing, at the expense of other projects.
Thoughts?

I don't think mixing periods works very well for Trek, at least in other rules. I prefer to normalize each period against the relevant Enterprise. But there are interesting differences between TOS and Enterprise tech.

I agree, it doesn't seem worth the time. Maybe after the mod comes out, you could give your rough ideas and ask for feedback. Who knows, maybe it could be another mod.
