Scale ?

What is the scale in NT? Is it different for the different eras or consistent throughout all periods?
I realize the ships are not to scale even at 1/6000, but I could not find it in the rules anywhere.
Basically I am wondering what 1" represents on the playing surface in terms of movement and ranges.
My guess is 1" = about 500yrds.
TIA,

Exactly right. Turns are about 4 to 5 minutes.

Exactly right. Turns are about 4 to 5 minutes. Thanks...forgot to ask about time. I will assume this holds true for all periods then as well.

Yeah, although I actually encourage doing a modification to the scale for pre-dreadnought era because the ranges were baselined for WWI and are much shorter on the tabletop as a result when playing the pre-dreads.
The standard house rule I suggest is just take all range measurements and divide by 2 to get the "actual" range.

Making the scale 1"=250yrds or 1" =1000yrds Mikasa card for example has 12 in gun long range of 30" so should it be 60" on the table or 15"?

I was saying doubling the ranges. Because of fire control limitations you are rarely going to be engaging outside 20" anyway. . . so that will make it about a 40" engagement distance, which is better on the tabletop. Also makes the ships appear to move faster, which is more fun.

Not to necro post, but, what scale were the rules originally written using or based around? Also, what scale works best? As Aaron, BBOK and myself have a huge collection of W@S mini's but for some reason they just didn't have that feel to them while using the ruleset. They felt kinda too big for the rules so I wasn't sure. Are there any kind of modifications we need to make using the larger ships? IE, movement, gun ranges, etc.

Well it depends how much space you have. The W@S minis are 1/1800 scale. . . pretty big, but the rules can accomodate them at that scale if you're limited on table space.
If you've got plenty of room, you might want to use the same suggestion as for the pre-dreadnoughts.
Give everybody double the movement points. Have it cost 1 MP to to 45 degrees Divide all ranges by 2 before comparing them to the data card
These changes effectively double (or halve) the scale, so a range that was 30" before, would effectively be 60" under the modifed rules. That would give you plenty of visual correctness. . . but takes a lot of room.

Ahhh coool. Good to know. Thanks for the speedy reply! BBOK ordered a bunch of the 1/6000 scale stuff, I was thinking the smaller ships would provide for a greater gaming experience and allow more fleet movement. We use a 4'x6' Hotzmat. Thanks for the feedback. We will give them a go tomorrow evening!
