With the addition of the IJN WWI data cards, we might be able to game some scenarios with Von Spee's squadron vs. an IJN hunting group.

How about other nations in the Dreadnought (WW1) era. I know everyone focuses on the North Sea, but there were other combatants and potential combatants as well.

I would certainly echo capndave's suggestion. While not as dramatic as the North Sea encounters, many other navies were active in WWI . . . and there certainly are many interesting "what if" possibilities that involve other navies.
For example, many years ago I was researching something else in the 1914 local papers on the Monterey Peninsula (California). Although I don't recall exact details (this was about 30-35 years back) I happened to come across a number of stories about a naval battle off the coast of Monterey.
All that could be seen and heard from shore were the flashes and the sounds of guns . . . this was in the very early days of the war . . . and the speculation was that two of the "ABC" navies were involved. One of their Dreadnoughts had sailed south from San Francisco and a Dreadnought of their South American foe was known to have sailed north from southern California. The ships were named, but I certainly don't recall them at this remove (I wasn't interested in naval warfare then . . . I was researching something completely different . . . but it was exciting stuff).
What happened? I have no idea . . . probably not much (it was a WWI night engagement after all) . . . but this and other "what ifs" would be fun to game.

PS, For those who don't know, "ABC" refers to Argentina, Brazil and Chile, who were involved in a naval "arms race".

Finally managed to get my first game in with these rules and I must say myself and the guys I played with really enjoyed them. We felt they had the right balance for a good evenings game. They weren't too simplistic nor did they bog down into copious amounts of charts. In all well done and keep the great products rolling.
I don't know if this was covered by someone else in this thread already but I didn't see it. As the group I game with are mostly focused on the Pacific I was wondering if there are any plans to do the smaller navies of WW2 including the Dutch?
Thanks Martin

I had some thoughts on "advanced rules" for aircraft and subs in Battleship Row.
I like the mechanics as they are, but it would be nice to reflect some national flavour to the rules for them. It would also be nice to be able to customize your force a bit. To this end aircraft carriers could come with specific aircraft (I guess depending on the year), which have the possibility of being upgraded or have alternate payloads. Specific aircraft could perform as per the default rules, or depending on nationality or upgrade have either bonuses/penalties or some special ability.
For example say you had a US carrier that normally came with F4F, Devastators and Dauntless. If playing in a later year you could upgrade some or all of them to F6F, Avengers and Helldivers. They could cost an extra amount per flight added to the cost of the carrier and have some benefit (F6F +1 to hit, Helldiver higher damage?)
I think something similar could be done for subs too. It would be great to be able to buy more sub attack dice or upgrade to what you start with.

TheDreadnought,
Earlier you had thought that "Rise of the Battleship II" might be available "this Summer" . . . and more recently "August/September" . . . any better guesstimate? I have my PayPal ready anytime.

Only to say it won't be August. Hopefully still Sept. Pretty much in good shape on it at this point. . . it's now just the "get it ready for publication" work that has to be done. Leslie is really snowed under right now, so that's part of the hold up. Me taking an unofficial vacation for a bit after GenCon is another factor.

Hey, nothing wrong with a vaction unless the unofficial part was bad news. Thanks for all the work on NT and CB it is an amazing body of work in such a short time.

Yeah, it was a good unofficial vaction. Been really busy at work, and just feel like relaxing and vegitating a little when I get home, instead of working on gaming stuff. Maybe this weekend I will get back to it though.
