Hey guys, I'm new to the game & the forum - an Axis & Allies War at Sea gamer looking for something more. Anyway, I downloaded the rules, etc the other day, but have been unable to find any scenarios beyond the 2 included in Battleship Row. Did I miss something? Is there a scenario section on this forum? Searching...

Welcome!
Bitter Rivals Expansion (introduces UK, Germany, Italy and France) contains several scenarios both European and Pacific. Otherwise any OoB can make a scenario.

If you wish to play historical scenarios you can access this website for most if not all of the most important OOB's for several time periods. www.navweaps.com/index_oob/index_oob.htmOtherwise you can, [glow=red,2,300]as afilter stated[/glow],make up your own OOBs. The following website has the Imperial Japanese OOB at the start of the war: www.zipcon.net/~kestral/ijn.html

Thanks for the responses. As a new guy, I'm a little surprised that Battleship Row, the introductory game in the series, doesn't have any simple 'starter' scenarios - the 2 included are a bit complex and involve night rules. I'm also surprised that this forum, which seems very active, doesn't have any posts or recommendations for good scenarios, besides build-your-own/OOB. I'll probably buy Bitter Rivals at some point, but am still in the "walk before you run" stage with this game. Cheers!

Keep in mind that this forum is rapidly growing and probably half or more of the 170 members are here for the space game. While it is very active for it's size the total community is only 5-10% of the other forum we frequent. Personally, I am playing the Pre-Dreads, WWI and WWII, so I have not even played all the scenarios currently provided. If you like the basic rules Bitter Rivals is well worth the extr $12 and brings in all the remainign fleets as well as 13 sceanrios incluidng some introductory ones. In time I am sure there will be more user generated sceanrios like you are familiar with on other forums. Any scenario can be adapted to NT. a quick seach of the internet will provide a map for most major engagements. The scale for NT is 1"=500yrds so it is very doable to come up with the starting ranges/set up if you have a particular engagement in mind. HTH,

You might look at GHQs site under free downloads. They have some scenarios which can be used.

The problem you have is that the Pacific theatre doesn't have any small learning style scenarios the equivalent of the River Plate. Your best bet is, as others have mentioned, to try and create a scenario yourself that you are comfortable with.
I have always found the Battle of Komandorski Islands a good small scenario for the Pacific theatre as it doesn't have any battleships or too many big heavy hitters. No matter what rules I've played this one is always a good little scenario. My suggestion to you is to play this scenario but leave out the special rules, just play the ships and learn the rules. After a game or two you will see how easy the game flows and you can start adding extra rules to your own personal tastes and comfort level. The special rules honestly just add flavour and make the games more fun and different than simple stand up knock down affairs so add them only when you want to.

I don't have my rules with me atm... so apologies for any inconsistencies. That being the case... there must be something in and around Guadalcanal that sould serve as a "beginner" scenario... right?

Just pick a BB and Ca for each side that are around the same point value, line'em up and knock 'em down. This will get you through the learning part of the game, then you can have a go at one of the scenarios.

Try the Battle of Cape Esperance but don't fight it at night. It's a few heavy cruisers and couple of destroyers on the Japanese side versus a couple of heavy cruisers and light cruisers and about 4 or 5 destroyers on the US side. Navigator37 if you want to use this battle just search this battle on the net and I'm sure you'll find plenty of info.
There are also a few destroyer only actions in the Solomon's Campaign you may wish to look up as well if you are after small scenarios.
