Okay, it's late, but here is the first of many pictures : Russian fleet steams out-as see from the Japanese cruiser Yakamo (so it's really more of a bird's eye view.) Hopefully more on Sunday!

Your round bases are different . . . what is your rational for them? Or were they originally based for a different set of rules?
And, beside photos we want an account of the battle.

They are on round bases, as you suspect, because of another rules set, but they work surprisingly well. After all, you just turn the ships. Yes, it does keep them more in place so you don't lose the distance from swing the front away from the enemy. Aaron, the nice thing about this scale, other than painting is fast, is it looks really close to scale. The bad thing is they are difficult to see! I get more of a report and pictures up today I hope.

The Japanese fleet moves to intercept. The Japanese 5th division enters the map, the emperor would not be pleased with their performance. We misplaced this division with the 6th so the 5th was in action early. As the 5th approaches the Russian main battleline, a flotilla and the cruiser Novik also move in. You casn also see the Japanese battleships (fore ground) with the 5th to their right.

The Tsearevich opens fire along with the Novik and Flotilla 1. Hashidate catches fire while being roughly handled the Admiral moves his flag to Matushima Now the Matushima is pounded and the Admiral points his row boat toward Ikitsushima and Chin Yen, they both retreat and Izumi follows the next turn. The Emperor orders the captains executed as the Admiral is still rowing. Meanwhile, The Russians Scouting Group and the other Flotilla turn to engage the Japanese 3rd Division. The Diana explodes with a magazine hit and the Flotilla goes down under the fire of the Japanese cruisers. The two battleline exchange shots crippling the Tsesarevich and Mikasa. The Russians order a retreat and will try again. We will try this again and place the 5th and 6th correctly. The Russians were in good shape as was the Japanese battleline and Flotillas. It was a fun game and we will stay in the Pre-dread period for awhile as we have Huston ships coming-the Russians are already here! GREAT SERVICE!

It sounds like a fun game.
One thing to remember with the Japanese . . . they started the war with six battleships (which they had purchased from Europe) . . . but lost two (Hatsuse and Yoshima) early in Port Arthur minefields. They didn't have any way of replacing them so they had to be a bit careful of them . . . which means that Japanese losses of their big ships should really hurt their victory conditions (and the Japanese admiral needs to be aware of that).

Harry has the condictions set where they are worth 3x their value to the Russian player, which makes you be careful with them!
